Hockey and hiking.

Ok so I think I figured out what it was that I said I would post about, my boyfriend's hockey game on Tuesday night and the hike we went on on Wednesday afternoon. Let us start with the hockey game, I had aparently not learned my lesson from the last game I had gone to, to dress warm as there are no heat in the stands at the rink. I ended up in just a thin black long sleeved shirt, jeans, and my wool coat. And that is not appropriate attire. Anyway his team ended up letting in 10 goals yet only scored themselves once, but I was told it was against a really good team. But like I said due to my attire I did not see much of the game, but I did get some decent pictures of what I did see.
Yea that last one isn't so hot but hey these are all taken with my phone. My camera I brought died 10 minutes in, sad thing is I did charge it before we left. Oh well. Anyway it was a good time while I was in the rink. Although he does have another game today, I don't think that I will be able to make it. His game starts at 8pm tonight and I have the holiday meeting for work today from 5-730. If it weren't for the fact that my meeting is on the opposite side of town and I have no clue how to get to the rink by myself. We'll see.

Then on Wednesday we decided to go for a hike at a park in town, it was a lot of fun. But again my apparel caused us to change plans, jeans and a white sweater are aparently not good things to wear hiking during white tailed deer hunting season. And the park we went to was plastered with bright orange signs saying designated hunting area... So... We ended up wandering around and found this thing for kids, called the nature fun zone.
It was an area divided up to show children how different things come from and develope in nature. But this did not hold our interest long, I'm sure it would if we had kids but we don't so, yea. We ended taking one of those old fashioned fitness trails that were so big in the early 90's.
So that ment that the "hike" I agreed to turned into a run, in those baggy jeans and white sweater.
It was about a 3/4 of a mile out from the car and back, should have been longer but the trail was blocked off due to them setting up a Christmas display, at the beginning of November.

I mean is it too much to ask for people to let Christmas wait it's turn as a holiday, for thanksgiving and halloween to get their fair share of their months. I mean with how much of the decorations were already up it is a pretty good indication that they had started placing them in mid October. Oh well I'm sure that it would be fun to run the trail when I am actually dressed properly, but that has to wait till I get some pepper spray. Creepy guy asking questions when we were on the way back to the car. I don't know what would have happened without my boyfriend there. Oh well I think that is all I have to talk about today.

Luv ya!

Long run this Saturday yay!

Well let's see, I'm being pretty bad and procrastinating getting ready for work. I went for my long run today for my princess training, 8.14miles.
I can honestly say that when I got home I wanted to either curl up into a ball and cry or calmly throw up when I got to the top of the steps to our apartment. Which is kinda funny as I felt perfectly fine during the run. I do honestly love how my body feels during a long run; the tight feeling in my legs, the shortness of breath, and knowing that I can push my body beyond where I had ever believed was possible in the past. I missed the feeling these last couple of weeks. This was my first truly long run in the last month, it's so strange I think I might have let my boss get into my head more than I had originally thought. She kept saying it was bizarre that I would go for any kind of exercise before coming into work, if I ever told her the number of miles I had done or what I was training for I got the look of "you're absolutely nuts" I don't usually like getting that look from people I deal with regularly. Eh whatever, overall at this point I have gone for a run the last four days, and I am hoping that I can begin another running streak. We'll see.
It's amazing the things I notice when I am out for my runs. I took a similar path to what I used to this summer and I just noticed this. I wanted to go inside but the gate was locked and requires a key code to get in. Curiosity is killing me though. I must know what the historic hallam preservation is.

I have finished another leg on the blue bear and hope that I can finish it this weekend. I am also loving my I ♥️Radio app, it allows me to listen to the radio stations from back home, I didn't think that just that one thing could make me feel a little bit better from my homesickness. I'll be honest that is probably one of the main reasons I am running as much as I have since I moved, it makes me feel like I am closer to my parents. Sheesh February can't come soon enough, I miss them like crazy.

Oh on a random note from my run I did beat three of my previous records on my Nike+ app. I beat my fastest 10k,
my longest run,
and my farthest run as well
. So I am really excited about that. I think that is all that I have to say at the moment, I know I said that I would talk about something else in this  post.... But I cannot for the life of me remember what that is.... Hmmm.... Maybe it will come to me later today and I will write it up later. 😉

Luv ya!

Updates and new attempts.

Well I had hoped to get this post up yesterday, but life seemed to get in the way of me talking. This thing called life was simply the fact that I had to go grocery shopping and did not get home until late so no typing was done... I do apologize.

Running Update

My day started yesterday with the good old debate over whether or not I really wished to go for a run. At 830 when I checked the weather channel app and it said 44 degrees I thought that wouldn't be too bad to run in and I set off to get dressed, knowing full well that by the time I was ready to go it should have been about 52 degrees outside the apartment which in my mind should have been basically a cake walk to run in. last year I ran in 13 degree weather back in Colorado. The thing that I had not accounted for with the thoughts of my run was that it was also 85% humidity... this makes things insanely uncomfortable and either hotter or colder than one would expect. To me it almost felt as though it was colder than that day in Colorado, this is insane to me.

I did end up sucking it up and dealing with the unexpected weather, and it turned into a beautiful run. I ended the run at 5.21 miles at a 15'50"/mi pace this is a pretty decent pace for me. While I was originally planning on running 6-8 miles I was unable to get past the pain in my foot from my socks. I had even taken off my shoe twice mid run to adjust it. the problem was that the seam of my sock kept shifting along the side of my toe and wrapping around it cutting off the circulation and causing my toes to go numb. not a good time, I did deal with it for another 3 miles after it started so I guess it wasn't that bad of a time right.

I learned several lessons from these things; first that I need to invest in a couple pairs of warm compression running leggings as well as a new long sleeve full zip shirt to run in (my current pirate princess hooded sweatshirt from Disney is on its last leg) so the next week or so i will be researching cost of these items to add to my wordrobe.

Crochet Update
on the yarny front, I had almost dinished the Blue Bear's body last night, and finished it off this morning.

I really need to learn that things that worked for me when I was in college, or even when I lived out in colorado and worked at perfumania, to get projects done generally do not work out here. I dont have as much time on my lunch break and I do not ride public transport any more so carrying things to work on in my purse isnt really a good idea. it only serves to make the brick on my arm even heavier.

I think that if I work on it while I am at home I might be able to finish the bear and have it put into my etsy store within the next week. Fingers crossed things go well. I am hoping that I can keep up on these blog posts, trying to learn how to blog properly and plan.

Vintage baseball in Gettysburg

If you follow me on instagram or twitter you know that yesterday was a pretty interesting day. The bf and I went to the vintage baseball tournament in Gettysburg, PA. Which was a lot of fun. We got there around 9:30am, which was about an hour after they started the event. I learned a lot and discovered that vintage baseball is much more interesting than regular baseball. They played by 1864 rules and not only that but they dressed as such as well.
This is something that my bf really enjoys I kind of want to see if he will let me use some of his pictures, as the only camera I had brought was attached to my phone which kept overheating in the sun of the absolutely gorgeous cloudless day.

After the vintage baseball we went to wander through the old battlefields and went looking at the monuments and memorials.

This is the Pennsylvania memorial.
We saw several other memorials and such but my phone had died so I was unable to get any more pictures. But overall I had a lot of fun, and we decided that we were going to need to spend a couple days in Gettysburg to truly get a handle on seeing everything. Hoping today is just as fun. We're going to see dispicable me 2 finally. 😁 So excited.

Well the move is done...

And I am almost settled back into some semblance of a routine. But it has been over a month and it still doesn't really feel like home. This could be because I let him make most of the decisions on what we do and where we go, but I still don't have a car out here just yet. I do also have a job out here that would pay moderately well if I could get full time hours (at the moment I'm only working 3-4 days a week). Can't look for something else due to the 1car issue, no Internet,or cable. And he seriously wonders why I don't feel at home? Boys. It's funny how he thinks I will feel at home with him talking down to me on a regular basis because of the car situation and the job situation. And the really funny part is he got me the job in the first place. I could have transferred my old job and been making almost as much as him. Ugh. Oh well I am getting grumpy.

Anyway while I haven't really gotten much knitting or crochet done in the last month (the boxes of yarn are still in Colorado) I have been attempting to get my running routine back, and have kinda been able to do just that. The other day I beat my personal best 5k time and then yesterday I did 2.74mi of hills on the elliptical trainer in the gym at the apartment followed by 2.06mi of running on the roads and trails outside. I might have over done it though because my knee swelled up like a balloon and would not bend for about 5hrs after the fact. But the rest of me felt fantastic.

So I need to find some way to lose more weight and be less of an impact on my knees. Swimming is out at the moment, (we live in a small town now and the apartment has no pool) I could use the bike in the gym more often, but it is a first come first served scenario (there is only one stationary bike in the gym) silly I know. Hmmm I'm sure I will figure something out. Hopefully I can find some races here to do in the next couple moths to give me something to train for besides my big big run in October (which I might not do cause I am scared out of my mind) the bf doesn't think I should plan to far in advance anyway because we need to be focused on the here and now. Ugh. So dumb. I need things to look forward to for a place to be home. And to keep my mind at ease. How about you all?

Sorry if this post reads as more of a rant than my happy focused posts I wanted to write. But oh well tomorrow is another day and I will try to post after work with some pictures of my coworkers. (^_^)/ have a happy Tuesday.
