Summer workout essentials

After a summer and a half  in PA, can honestly say that I miss the high heat and low humidity of colorado. In the last two months I have been working on and completed the #RWRunStreak challenge, in that time I have also finally joined a gym out here (more on that later) but I think I have a pretty good idea of what I will be using as my forever essentials, or atleast the essentials for the east coast. Now while I am not a physical trainer in any aspect nor am I a nutritionist, these are more common sense things or items that I have added because of what I have read and they happened to work out for me. And with that little disclaimer out of the way, on to the list.

1. A water bottle. This is pretty self explainitory you should always hydrate when working out and throughout the day. I have 2 water bottles I use regularly. A .75L camelbak that I take everywhere with me. And a cheap little bottle I take on my long runs. I love the pocket for my keys on that one.

2. Workout clothes. Again self explainitory. Right now I love these old workout capris I have had for years from jc penny's.

3. shoes. My favorite running shoes are split between three different companies at the moment. Nike and the Lunarfly+4 that are now discontinued and I can no longer find anywhere, I was using these mostly as walking and gym shoes anyway so they aren't quite dead yet. Asics and their gel noosa tri 8, these lasted forever before I had to retire them, I would have replaced them with the new version if I could find them at a decent price. So I replaced them with the gel-forte, and so far I love these little bitties, the only thing I miss is the bright colors of the noosa's so I may have to get a bright pair to be my back up shoes this time around. The third brand I love is Saucony and their cohesion 6 shoes. I was thinking about the cohesion 7's as my back up shoes but since I got a pair of muted shoes for my main pair I feel the need for brighter backups so I will have to think on that for a little bit longer.

4. Pre-workout snacks. Lately I have been on a smoothie and fruit kick for my pre-workout. I know I should look into a real pre-workout drink, but at the moment this is working for me. I also, if I am short on time will just eat a half of a Luna bar.

5. Post workout. If I had a Luna bar before the workout I will eat the other half after. I also drink a full bottle of water. And might have a slim fast shake with skim milk and/or some fruit.

I hope this helps. And I hope to have my June favorites up by the end of the weekend, wish me luck. And as always luv ya all and I will talk again soon.
